Hanging on the Dock

Here I am on the dock yesterday. I love the breeze in my face and I caught a nice nap. It was fun. Then Mommy & I went to her friends the Huttos house to play all the water sports. I met all kinds of kids there- mommy says they'll be my friends when I'm older. We'll post again soon.

Today's Walk

Here are pictures from today's walk. I got super fussy so Bia and Mom stopped by the lake to feed me. My new BOB is so great they can take me anywhere! I also went on the dock for the first time. Mom will post those pictures later. By the way, we forgot to tell you that I went on my first airplane ride to get here. Mom didn't take pictures because her hands were very full with me and the stroller and all the baby gear. But I was really good. I only cried when we were boarding and deboarding. So long as the plane moved, I was happy. We'll post more pics soon. Love, Sophie

My First Trip to Burt Lake!

Hi Everybody! Mom and I are at Burt Lake in Michigan. This is my first time here (out of the womb anyway). I love it here! Bia got me this cool bouncy seat (see below) and a great mobile for my travel crib. The grown ups call my bouncy seat my dock chair. It makes me happy when I'm fussy- which is not very often here. I have been sleeping 7-8 hours a night. Mommy says that's pretty good for a 7 week old. Every morning we go for a 6 mile walk in my new BOB stroller (see below). Mom has been surfing and skiing too. She says she is trying to lose her baby weight. Today I went for my very first boat ride while my mommy skiied with her friends. I rode in my car seat- which is now a boat seat too! I loved it and especially loved the wind in my face. The only thing wrong with this place is that my daddy is not here. Mom says he is coming soon. I hope he hurries. Love, Sophie

Ada Marie, Matt & Clare Visit

Today our friends Ada Marie, Matt (who was taking the picture) and their baby Clare (11 months) stopped by and brought lunch. Ada and I worked together at Hunter Maclean in Savannah. Matt was a JAG and was in Iraq at the same time as Oliver, so Ada and I have always had a lot in common. They have moved on from Army life as well and they live in Richmond Virginia now. It was great to catch up, and I was so happy to finally meet Clare- who is beautiful- and get some baby advice from Ada. Hopefully it won't be so long next time.

Emily Visits

Oliver's sister Emily visited this weekend with her boyfriend Chris (oops no pictures of Chris). We had such a great weekend. Em and Chris helped us with a lot of farm chores since we are getting ready to go on vacation and we really enjoyed just hanging out. Of course, Sophie loves her Auntie Emily. We hope they come back soon!

Visitors! Last Week...

Sophie has been so lucky to have so many visitors lately. Last week, she was held by her great grandpa Jack (my grandpa).... and then by her Grandpa Albert (Ollie's dad) and her aunt Jessie (Ollie's sister)- What a great father's day gift for Oliver and Albert both!

Play Date

Sophie and I get together at least once a week and sometimes more with my new friend Deb and her baby Jack. Deb and I (and our hubbies) met in childbirth class. She and her husband John have a small farm with two horses (and dogs and cats and lovely gardens) as well so we have a lot in common. We have a great time walking, eating, shopping, and just talking. I am so thankful to have her as my new bud.

Bathtime

Sophie is not sure how she feels about bathtime. She doesn't love it- but doesn't hate it either. Check out her tummy- its getting so chubby. I love it!

New Faces

Sophie has changed so much this past week. She's become a lot more interactive and has so many new smiles and faces... especially for her daddy when he comes home from work. :)

Baby Push Ups

When I get fussy, my mom does baby push ups with me. Here's a picture so you all can see how well baby push ups work...

Here I'm mad.

This is the "up" part.
This is the "down" part. We repeat this at least 10-15 times.
Now I'm not mad anymore because my brains are scrambled. And then I can even fall asleep!

One Month

On Saturday June 7, 2008 Sophie was one month old. We got all dressed up for Sophie's cousin Rob's graduation from high school. Thanks to the Myatts for this beautiful Sarah Louise dress... we loved it!

Tummy Time

Hi Everybody! So, since I am 4+ weeks now, Mom started me with tummy time on my cute new playmat (thanks Colleen!). I like it OK- and I am pretty strong at lifting my head and can even roll over- Mom caught me in the act in the picture below. Enjoy! Love, Sophie

Good-Bye Hollywood

Most of you know how much I love my long time partner Willie. He and I have been eventing together for almost 11 years. Last week he left our farm for South Carolina- I am leasing him to friends there while I devote my time to Sophie and my young horse Henry. Sending him away was more difficult than I had anticipated- which is why I haven't been able to write about it until now. He has arrived safely at his new home- which is a gorgeous brand new, state of the art facility, and all reports are that he has settled in nicely and is very happy. I know Melanie, Kathy, & the ladies in SC will take wonderful care of him, but we miss him just the same.

4 Weeks

Everyone has been asking... Sorry I haven't posted in a week or so. Truth is, we don't do all that much that is noteworthy around here. I find myself doing things I never dreamed of- like, um- watching The View and Y&R. Sophie turns 4 weeks tomorrow. I can't believe how fast 4 weeks has gone. She is steadily gaining weight and her cheeks are getting really full and cute (see below). Her eyes seem to be turning lighter blue, so maybe they'll stay blue? And her eyebrows seem more prominent to me. Who knows, I stare at her about 15 hours a day, so its hard for me to see the changes. We do manage to get out for walks and playdates with Deb and Jack. Otherwise, our day goes something like this: eat, burp, sleep, change diaper, read book, let dogs in, let dogs out, go out to barn to visit Mosby, repeat series over and over. I'm not complaining! Can't think of anything I'd rather be doing.
We have a playdate with Deb and Jack tomorrow, some visitors coming in the next few weeks and my nephew Rob's graduation this weekend, and so hopefully there will be more exciting pictures to post soon.
