Mosby Stolley 1999-2010

We laid Mosby to rest on June 22, 2010. He is buried in the front yard of our farm under an oak tree with a teddy bear that Sophia gave him. He is facing the house where he can be seen and talked to from both us on the front porch and from the horses in the barn. Mosby had been with our family for 3 1/2 years, but it felt like forever. We think of our beloved boy everyday. We remember that he always had a nicker for us when we got home from work and drove up the driveway past the barn, that he never failed to come running when Oliver called him with his favorite yelp, and we think of his big white face and bright blue eyes hanging out of his stall begging for treats. We remember him as a perfect gentleman under tack- except when the wind blew up his rear end. We especially remember him for his kind soul and patience with children. He was truly the king of the pony rides, giving them for hours and never batting a single eyelash about it. He is missed most by his best buddy Will who is still lonely without him.

Oliver found this poem he wanted to post in his honor:

I held him in my arms so tight
Through the darkness and the fury of the night
I pushed back a lock of hair into its place,
I knew that he would not win this race.
All the years that he had been my friend,
the long journey had finally come to an end.
As I brush my tears away,
I remember those special days.
We would gallop through the fields from sunrise to sunset,
We knew that both of us would never forget
All day and all night
We would gallop on without a single fight.
As he took his final breath,
I knew that it meant he had an easy death.
As I shut his eyelids tight,
he disappeared into the stormy night.
I saw his soul gallop off happy and content,
As I whispered into his ear, "Goodbye my friend."

We love and miss you Mosby Stolley and we will remember you always.

Lunch with Mommy

Bia and I got dressed up and went into the big city for lunch with Mommy while she was working. We had so much fun! We went to an Itailian restaurant and everyone loved me there. They even sang to me a song about a little Italian girl. I want to go back.

Here I am refreshing my lipstick.

Baby Shark

This is Sammy in his baby Shark hat. The hat makes me laugh. I think he's CUTE when he wears it.

Ponies! This is Belle....

The second pony we saw was Belle. She was sooooooo cute, just like Fiat was only she stood perfectly still in the cross ties and seemed to love it when I rode her. You could crawl all over her and hug her and pet her on her nose and she loved the attention. She was really sweet and VERY quiet. Her current little girl rides her in Pony Club Games, so we know you can do anything with her. I even got to "jump" her (ie. walk over poles on the ground). She is nine- the perfect age for me and Sammy to grow up with her. So, as you can tell we really like her. She might come to live with us, but mommy says I have to "wait patiently and see what happens." Here I am riding her.

We left my helmet at home on accident so I borrowed this one, which was a little too big for me.
Mommy crouched down to "look her in the eye" so I did too-- only mom said I didn't need to crouch b/c I was already shorter than eye level with her.

Isn't she the cutest?

Ponies! This is Fiat...

Since Mosby has to stay in his stall and Will needs to go in the pasture, and because I am old enough now (sort of) we decided to look at a few ponies. The first one we saw was a grey (I call him white) pony named Fiat. He was really safe and quiet and cute and smart. His little boy rode him very well. I totally dig riding and always ask to "keep going" until Mommy and Daddy say its time to get off. We loved Fiat but we aren't so sure we wanted to be a "leadline" pony- which means the grown ups lead him around while I ride him. He seemed like he was a little bored. He would probably be a GREAT pony for me in a few years, but I'm not ready for him yet.

Pigtails

So my mommy is always trying to get me to agree to wear pigtails and pony tails. Everytime she asks me I refuse and yell that it hurts. Well, on this day mommy decided to wear pigtails which I thought was very funny so I asked for them and left them in ALL DAY! And the next day I even asked for a pony tail. Mommy was excited, but it stopped after that second day and I am back to protesting the tails. Here is a cute picture of Sammy from the same day:

Sammy's Game

Sometimes when I eat lunch Sammy sits across from me in his bumbo. He thinks I'm really funny so he laughs at me and then drops toys so I can pick them up for him, which we BOTH think is totally hilarious.

Sammy's First Cereal

Sammy had a couple of days where he cried A LOT which is very unlike him, so we decided he might be ready for some cereal. He was not so sure.

Riding Mosby

My daddy's horse Mosby has been sick and his feet are hurting him. We are trying to make him better, but we think it may be a long road until he feels like himself again. Anyway, it got me thinking that I never posted these pictures from earlier this spring. You can see how much I LOVE riding him. He is very sweet to me and I love him. We hope he gets better soon.
