Mosby Stolley 1999-2010

We laid Mosby to rest on June 22, 2010. He is buried in the front yard of our farm under an oak tree with a teddy bear that Sophia gave him. He is facing the house where he can be seen and talked to from both us on the front porch and from the horses in the barn. Mosby had been with our family for 3 1/2 years, but it felt like forever. We think of our beloved boy everyday. We remember that he always had a nicker for us when we got home from work and drove up the driveway past the barn, that he never failed to come running when Oliver called him with his favorite yelp, and we think of his big white face and bright blue eyes hanging out of his stall begging for treats. We remember him as a perfect gentleman under tack- except when the wind blew up his rear end. We especially remember him for his kind soul and patience with children. He was truly the king of the pony rides, giving them for hours and never batting a single eyelash about it. He is missed most by his best buddy Will who is still lonely without him.

Oliver found this poem he wanted to post in his honor:

I held him in my arms so tight
Through the darkness and the fury of the night
I pushed back a lock of hair into its place,
I knew that he would not win this race.
All the years that he had been my friend,
the long journey had finally come to an end.
As I brush my tears away,
I remember those special days.
We would gallop through the fields from sunrise to sunset,
We knew that both of us would never forget
All day and all night
We would gallop on without a single fight.
As he took his final breath,
I knew that it meant he had an easy death.
As I shut his eyelids tight,
he disappeared into the stormy night.
I saw his soul gallop off happy and content,
As I whispered into his ear, "Goodbye my friend."

We love and miss you Mosby Stolley and we will remember you always.
